Jimmy’s Bastards #4 Review
By Ashish Thomas
Garth Ennis’s Jimmy’s Bastards continues to catch up check out James O’Donnell’s review of Issue 3 here.
This issue picks up with Jimmy and Nancy getting Idi to safety while Jimmy checks on his “Privilege”. Nancy and Jimmy are having a heated conversation when all hell breaks loose. It seems people are switching genders “Gender Fluid” is real everyone except Jimmy and Nancy. Jimmy speaks with Sir X finding out the problem is widespread with the Regents recent assailants behind Gender Fluid. There is a discussion of the Jimmy Clone, unfortunately, they lose Sir X before finding out if they know the source of Gender Fluid.
After losing the connection Nancy and Jimmy head to his place. It seems that the Gender Fluid problem is a distraction. Nancy goes into Jimmy’s place where she’s attacked by the enemy after a struggle Nancy is knocked out and kidnapped.
Jimmy gets a text telling him to meet at St Paul’s come alone. When Jimmy arrives at St. Pauls he starts taking out people. We see the “clone” Jimmy reveal himself. Jimmy asks if the Gender Fluid was a red herring which the clone admits. The issue ends with Jimmy Regent in a predicament of his own making find out when the issue drops this Wednesday, October 11, 2017.
Jimmy’s Bastards Issue 4 continues the excellence that the series is known for whether it’s taking on Spy Tropes, making fun of the Spy Genre with a great story. It seems we’re almost reaching the end of the first arc cant wait to see how this arc will end or the fallout of the Gender Fluid and what the enemy has in store for Jimmy Regent. The Art of Russ Braun and Colors of John Kalisz again is vibrant and stunning. The world of spies has never looked so good. Do yourself a favor pick up Jimmy’s Bastards out this Wednesday.
