Woah! If you’re a Game of Thrones fan, you probably were relieved to see so much payoff in last night’s season seven finale.  There were twists! There were turns! There were major character developments that we saw coming from a mile away but were really excited to see anyway!  Though the hour and a half episode had a lot of content to digest, here are the craziest moments from last night’s episode below.  (And yes, we know we’re not getting another ep until 2019. Don’t remind us!)

spoilers

Euron Greyjoy Bails

ep67-ss03-1920

The long-awaited negotiation between Team Lannister and Team Tagaryen was last night, and it didn’t disappoint. They gathered all of our faves in one scene and let them chew on the scenery for 30 minutes, and it was great. But the best moment? When the Hound let loose a White Walker so Queen Cersei could see who the enemy really was.

ep67-ss05-1920

It wasn’t surprising when she initially said no to the truce (even after seeing the White Walker), but it was surprising when Euron Greyjoy saw the monster and bailed. Some hero of the seas he is. The moment didn’t ring true to his character, so it was a major twist to see him tuck his tail and run.

ep67-ss01-1920

However, we find out at the episode’s end that it was all a larger ruse. Euron’s cowardice was a decoy for him to take his fleet to Essos, where he will acquire the Golden Company (a.k.a. mercenaries) on the Crown’s behalf. Who saw that coming?

R.I.P. Littlefinger

707-Winterfell-Littlefinger-2-768x511

LITTLEFINGER IS DEAD! And it was oh so satisfying to see Arya slit his throat.  After tension building between Arya and Sansa for the bulk of the season, it was revealed that they were doing so to play Littlefinger.  He fell right into their hands and was tried for his crimes against the Stark family and the crown. Sansa gave the verdict, and Arya pulled the sword. Ned Stark would be proud.

ep67-ss08-1920

It’s good to know that while the Lannisters fall apart, the Starks are standing together. Even Bran, who hasn’t been that much help in the long run, came through and provided “evidence” to Littlefinger’s crimes.

Cersei and Jamie Break Up

Will we ever actually get to see what the Mountain looks like now? Probably not, but we almost go to see him in action last night. After Tyrion tried to convince Cersei to have the Mountain execute him, Jamie pulled something similar after realizing that Cersei will never truly trust him.  Jamie was pleased to see Cersei align herself with Dany to fight the Night King, but felt betrayed when Cersei revealed it was all a lie.

ep67-ss06-1920

Cersei’s timing was poor, as she told Jamie this while he was in the process of strategizing with his bannermen, but it symbolized the larger rift that has grown between Jamie and Cersei over the past few seasons. Cersei said she would rather kill Jamie than let him leave her (“No one walks away from me.”) – but it turns out that’s not true. We last saw Jamie riding away from King’s Landing, most likely to go join the Starks in their fight up North.

Now there are two Lannister brothers fighting against one Lannister queen.  It will be great to see Jamie and Tyrion on the same side again, but one has to wonder how long that will last.

R + L = J!

Yes, Jon Snow’s actual parentage and identity was revealed last night! Jon Snow is officially the nephew of Ned Stark, the son of Rhagar Targaryen, and the aunt (?) of Daenerys Targaryen… yikes. It didn’t help that that reveal was shown as Jon Snow and Dany were sleeping together (EW!), and it definitely didn’t help that the reveal anticlimactically came from Sam Tarly and Bran’s fireside chat. Oh well, at least fans got their comeuppance. Now, everyone who found the theory on their own can say that they were cool enough to have come up with it first.
