The Aggregate-You are the captain of this story
As a kid, I was a huge fan of choosing your adventure stories. It was exciting to see where each story would go based on my choices. It’s been a while since I have read a choose your adventure story. As a Child one of my favorites was a Batman version the only drawback is that there was no illustration. Oh, how I wished it was.
Almost two years ago I heard about a Kickstarter launch for this book called The Aggregate; the pitch post-apocalyptic split decision graphic novel caught my attention. One of the coolest things about The Aggregate is that you would get to control the story. It’s not every day you hear about innovations in comics, choose your adventure stories exist outside comics however I have never heard of choosing your adventure comics.
The story of the Aggregate is about a machine named the aggregate. It was a machine created by the government to wipe out the population. Inside the machine was piloted by 5 Individuals the OTA’s who would command the Aggregate. Before the Aggregate could awaken rebels known as the light was able to stop and destroy it led by a woman named Valerius. After being thwarted in their attack, the OTA’s went into slumber mode with the Light keeping watch if the OTA awoke and tried to complete their previous mission that the light would stop them. It is now 1000 years later; the population has grown and rebuilt society now the OTA’s have awoken and are headed for the Aggregate. Valerius is keeping watch as one of the OTA’s has awoken and is going to follow to ensure that nothing will happen. Now the Aggregate story starts and you must choose where you want the story to go.
The Aggregate is a testament to the writing talent of Ben Bishop. The amount of time and work that went into creating each story path to ensure the whole story is immeasurable. Split Decision or Choose your adventure story are not easy to produce to create the story and do it well, you must anticipate and map out every possible storyline for the story. Lucky for us Ben Bishop is up for the task. The Story is thrilling taking you through the post-apocalyptic world of the Aggregate. I cannot wait to see where the world goes and for Vol 2 to come out.
The Aggregate is a showcase of the art of Ben Bishop. The world of the Aggregate is breathtaking and stunning this is one of the best looking new Sci-Fi graphic novels I have seen in a while. The Action Art Sequences and design of the spider-cats allow the reader to become immersed in the world. You can see the immenseness of the world as well as Dark and Grittiness and the beauty still existing in the post-apocalyptic world. The future in the aggregate looks stunning the spider cats look ferocious, and the Robots look like technological marvels. The Colors from Brittany Peer add to the excellence of the art of the Aggregate. The colors showcase the futuristic world and even the Dark, and Gritty portions look beautiful and bright. If you enjoy Choose Your Adventure story’s, post-apocalyptic futuristic tales. It’s a cross between Mad Max meets the Transformers. The Aggregate is Sci-Fi done exceptionally well and deserves to be read and marveled. The Aggregate is a graphic novel requires multiple readings to understand the immensity of the story. If you don’t like a part of the story, you go back and choose a different path you are in control. The Aggregate is one of the best New Science Fiction stories I have read in a while and should be picked up and read.
