AfterShock Comics Expands Team with Key Hires in Publishing and Social Media
(November 23, 2015) Los Angeles, CA – AfterShock Comics, the recently launched comic book company making industry headlines with its fast-growing creator and artist slate, announces key hires in publishing and marketing. Stephan Nilson, a comic book creator, joins the company as Publishing Operations Manager, and Lisa Y. Wu, a social media expert in the comic and pop culture category, will serve as AfterShock’s social media coordinator.
Stephan Nilson has been working in comics and television for fifteen years. He has written and edited for DC Comics, Image Comics, IDW Publishing, Nickelodeon, Warner Bros, Universal and others. For the past three years Stephan was the Production Manager for a video and animation production house in Tampa, Florida, working for clients such as Miller Lite, Adidas, and Strider bikes’ Team Japan.
Lisa Y. Wu specializes in leveraging innovative and dynamic marketing and advertising strategies to maximize brand awareness and guest feedback. She has successfully improved local and social media awareness for several clients across the Hampton Roads, Virginia area, and will now to be leveraging her skills on behalf of AfterShock. Additionally, she continues to act and model on the East Coast and write for the online pop culture blog, “God Hates Geeks.”
“As the team continues to grow with some of the most sought-after creators and artists in the business, we’re also onboarding the best in marketing and operations,” said Editor-in-Chief Mike Marts. “Both Stephan and Lisa are prime examples of the types of industry leaders we’re looking to expand with, and we’re extremely pleased they’re part of the AfterShock family.”
Launched in April 2015, AfterShock Comics is a comic book company that combines the creative edge of an independent comic book publisher with the strengths and experience of a traditional powerhouse. In addition to Editor-in-Chief Mike Marts, Aftershock’s executive team includes: Publisher Joe Pruett, an Eisner Award-winning publisher and editor; CEO Jon Kramer, an entertainment entrepreneur with extensive worldwide production and distribution experience; Chief Creative Officer Michael Richter, an accomplished media and technology executive, most recently at Facebook, as well as an award-winning filmmaker; President Lee Kramer, a film/TV production and development executive who has worked with some of the biggest names in Hollywood; and Senior VP of Investor Relations Jawad Qureshi, an experienced Silicon Valley entrepreneur and investor.
The company will debut its first slate of comics in early December, which will include titles from leading creators including Garth Ennis, followed by a January debut from Brian Azzarello.
